SANGSAD BHABAN, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and
Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said in Jatiya
Sangsad that the government has undertaken an initiative to develop a new
version of the Birth and Death Registration Software with enhanced digital
features, including online payment facilities and blockchain-based record
tracking.
The minister said this in parliament while replying to a tabled scripted
question from ruling party lawmaker Nipun Roy Chowdhury (women seat-11) in
the House regarding measures to eliminate harassment and the role of
middlemen in accessing citizen services such as birth and death registration,
inheritance certificates and other local government services.
In response, Alamgir said, "An initiative has been taken to develop Birth and
Death Registration Software Version-02. The new system will include an online
payment facility."
He further said, "In the new system, blockchain technology will enable
authorities to identify logs of any changes made to information. It will also
make it easier to determine at which level the information was altered."
The LGRD minister noted that the government is taking steps to simplify birth
and death registration services and reduce public suffering.
"To simplify birth and death registration services and eliminate public
inconvenience, regular training is being provided to registrars and
registration assistants across the country," he added.
