SANGSAD BHABAN, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said in Jatiya Sangsad that the government has undertaken a series of comprehensive measures to restore discipline, stability and quality in the country's education sector following a period of disruption over the past.

Replying to a scripted question from ruling party lawmaker Md. Abul Kalam, MP (Cumilla-9) in Parliament today, Milon said that although academic activities were partially affected due to instability in recent past, the government has already initiated necessary administrative and academic actions to ensure the return of a normal educational environment.

He said steps have been taken to resume regular classes and examinations across educational institutions, aiming to re-establish an orderly academic atmosphere.

The minister informed that a coordinated plan has been adopted through the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to improve the quality of education.

"Under this plan, initiatives such as expansion of technology-based education-including 'One Teacher One Tab', free Wi-Fi, multimedia classrooms and enhanced teacher training-are being implemented to modernize and make learning more effective," he said.

To reform curriculum and assessment systems, Milon said initiatives have been taken in coordination with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) and the Technical and Madrasah Education Division.

These include the introduction of third-language learning, expansion of vocational education and institutionalization of ethics education to foster knowledge, skills and moral values among students, he said.

Highlighting efforts to promote social, humanitarian and religious values, Milon said various co-curricular activities, documentaries and quiz-based reward programmes are being introduced to raise awareness and prevent social degradation, contributing to a positive learning environment.

The minister also noted that there is a plan to establish a BCS Education Academy to enhance the professional capacity of BCS education cadre officials, which will strengthen efficiency and dynamism in education administration.

In addition, under the "NextGen Secondary Education" project, he said the government is planning to introduce modern management systems, including infrastructure development, teacher training, real-time learning monitoring, unified assessment systems, attendance tracking and teacher performance evaluation. "The project proposal is currently under approval," he added.

The Education Minister also expressed optimism that these initiatives will restore stability in the education sector and ensure a disciplined, modern and quality learning environment across the country, adding that such efforts will continue in the future.
