SANGSAD BHABAN, April 21, 2026 (BSS) – State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam today told the Jatiya Sangsad that the lawmakers will get an office at every upazilas across the country.

The state minister revealed this while taking part in the discussion on thanks giving motion on president’s address at the JatiyaSangsad here with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, in the chair.

“With the instruction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government has made an arrangement of ‘special inspection room’ equipped with modern sitting arrangement for the lawmakers at every upazilas in the country”, he said.

After necessary consultation with LGRD minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the government has issued government order (GO) to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) at the respective upazilas to this end.

The decision is being implemented following an opposition lawmaker raised the issue and brought it under government notice in a current parliament session.

The upazila administration has been asked to prepare a room at the new or old building for the lawmakers with attached bathroom and necessary equipment at the upazila parishad throughout the country, he said.

Although there is no provision to give an allotment of office room directly for the lawmakers according to the rules, he said, adding that so, the office will be opened as ‘special inspection room’.

Under the arrangement, the lawmakers can operate their necessary official works and directly meet with the people of their constituencies. If more than one upazilas under a constituency then the lawmaker of the particular constituency will get more offices at each upazila.

The LGRD state minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving instruction to make this arrangement and then greeted the PM on behalf of every lawmaker.

As the GO has been issued on Tuesday, Alam asked the lawmakers to consult with the UNO of their respective upazila for implement the government order with the quickest possible time.

Opposition lawmaker Abul Hasnat Abdullah of Cumilla-4 greeted the treasury bench for taking such steps for the lawmakers.
