Fascist regime adopted trickery in the name of development for last 17 yrs: MPs

SANGSAD BHABAN, April 19, 2026 (BSS) – Treasury bench lawmakers today said the fascist regime committed ‘trickery’ in the name of development for the last 17 years.

No development works were held in more than last two decades as the people witnessed ‘deception’ in the name of development, they said.

The treasury bench lawmakers made the comments while taking part in discussion on thanksgiving motion on the President speech in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal in the chair.

“The development works during the fascist regime were politically motivated as deception took place with the people in the name of development,” said Nayab Yousuf Ahmed MP from Faridpur-3 constituency.

Although there was a widespread demand to make Faridpur as a division but the fascist government did not pay heed to this expectation of the people, said the lawmaker, adding, “We hope all the problems of our country will be resolved under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.”

The first session of the 13th parliament began on 12 March with President Mohammed Shahabuddin delivering his address.

The Business Advisory Committee later fixed 50 hours for discussion on the speech. Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam moved the motion of thanks on the President’s address, which was seconded by Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu.

No development works were taken place in Chattogram-14 constituency in the last several decades, said Jashim Uddin Ahmed MP (Chattogram-14), saying that his  constituency (Chandonaish and partial Sathkania) with two lakh people has no hospital.

Calling the parliament to raise a ‘hatred’ motion against fascist Sheikh Hasina, Ashraf Uddin of Narshingdi-5 said raising a motion of hatred against Sheikh Hasina will establish a precedent before the nation about the consequence of a publicly condemned leader.

Seeking apology for his inability to give thanks to the President, opposition lawmaker of Jhenaidah-4 Abu Taleb said it is not appropriate to give thanks to the President as he was an collaborator of the fascist.
