Mobile courts regularly active against pollution: Mintoo

SANGSAD BHABAN, April 15, 2026 (BSS)- Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo has said mobile courts are regularly active to curb air, water and noise pollution in Dhaka and other areas.

Replying to a starred question from opposition member (Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami) Afzal Hossain (Kushtia-4) in parliament today, Mintoo said initiatives were taken to install Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs) in industries discharging liquid waste to control water pollution.

The Minister said that to curb air pollution, regular drives are being carried out against illegal brick kilns through mobile courts. 

During this year brick-kiln season from November 2025 to March 2026, a total of 11 illegal brick kilns were demolished and a fine of Taka 100,000 was realised from one brick kiln.

He further said that since January 1 this year the mobile courts have filed 15 cases and realised fines amounting to Taka 30,000. In addition, 32 hydraulic horns were seized and destroyed.

Moreover, leaflets are being distributed regularly to raise public awareness about noise pollution.
