SANGSAD BHABAN, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today said the government has already started implementing the ruling BNP's election manifesto, including the pledges for Family Card, Farmer Card, canal excavation and honorarium for religious leaders and national athletes.

"We have included at least something for every segment of people, whether they are labourers, farmers, day workers, or belong to other professions," he told the Jatiya Sangsad (JS). 

"The government has already introduced the 'Farmer Card' to support farmers. Similarly, to empower the country's women, we have already started the process of providing 'Family Card' to marginalized female-headed households to make them economically solvent," the Prime Minister added.

The Leader of the House was replying to a starred question from treasury bench member from Pabna-5 Md Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas in the House with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, in the chair. 

The nationwide canal excavation programme has also been launched in line with the ruling party's election manifesto, he said, adding, this initiative will not only benefit farmers but also improve the livelihoods of rural working people.

Noting that BNP in its election manifesto, pledged to plant 25 crore trees within five years, Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, said this initiative will benefit working people across society in various ways.

Referring to allowances for Imams, Muezzins and religious leaders from other faiths, the Prime Minister said that religious leaders, who guide people from birth to death, are also part of the working population.

"We had said that we would arrange for an honorarium from the government to help them too, and we have started that work," he added. 

About BNP's commitment to develop professional athletes, the Prime Minister said many aspiring athletes come from working-class families.

"Therefore, we have already started giving support to them so they can pursue their careers properly," he added.
