CHANDPUR, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) – Abu Nasar Mohammad Mokbul Ahmed, 11-party alliance-backed Bangladesh Jammat-e-Islami candidate for the Chandpur-1 (Kachua) constituency in the 13th national election, has pledged to build a safe and developed Kachua.

In an exclusive interview with BSS, Mokbul Ahmed, a teacher by profession who has been involved with Jammat-e-Islami and Shibir politics for 40 years, shared his vision for the constituency.

He currently serves as a member of the Chandpur district Jammat Working Committee.

The following are the key excerpts from the interview:
BSS: What are your promises to the voters of your area?
Mokbul Ahmed: I am grateful for the unprecedented response, love, and affection I have been receiving from the people of Kachua since my candidacy was announced. If elected, we have mega plans for Kachua, which will be presented through our election manifesto.

Historically, the political culture in Bangladesh has often forced opposition members into hiding whenever a new party takes power. We promise to change this by building a safe Kachua for all 450,000 residents, regardless of religion, caste, or political affiliation.

Every citizen will have the maximum guarantee of living a normal life without fear. Furthermore, we will prioritize rural infrastructure, including roads, bridges, culverts, and educational institutions.
We also aim to ensure that the future generation can demonstrate their merit in the job market and to support our expatriate brothers who earn vital remittance for the country. We also intend to take active roles in ensuring a safe life for the mothers and sisters of Kachua.

BSS: What are your instructions to your activists regarding the election code of conduct?
Mokbul Ahmed: We are in favour of 100% compliance with the code of conduct. We hope that all other candidates and parties will also follow the instructions provided by the Election Commission during their campaigns.

BSS: What is your position on the implementation of the "July Charter"?
Mokbul Ahmed: We remember with great respect the children who sacrificed their lives in the July Revolution and pray for their martyrdom. The freedom of speech we enjoy today is a result of their sacrifice; it is a "second independence". The primary goal of the July Revolution was to form a discrimination-free Bangladesh, and we believe the July Charter will be direct evidence of that. I urge the residents of Kochua to vote "Yes" for the implementation of the July Charter and for the sovereignty of Bangladesh.

BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming parliamentary election?
Mokbul Ahmed: We have observed a spontaneous response and sincere cooperation from the public. We expect that the revolution of thought occurring among the people will be reflected in the parliamentary election on February 12. We believe Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will return home with the smile of fulfilling the expectations of the people of Kachua.

In the Chandpur-1 (Kachua) seat, a total of six candidates are competing. Ahmed's opponents include ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan (Bangladesh Nationalist Party - BNP), Mohammad Azad Hossain (Gono Forum), Mohammad Nasir Uddin (Bangladesh Islami Front), Md. Enayet Hossain (Ganika Parishad) and Habib Khan (Jatiya Party).

According to official data, there are 3,48,746 voters in the constituency, including 1,77,884 male and 1,70,859 female voters. Voting will take place across 110 polling centers and 641 polling booths.
