BHOLA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS)- Jamaat-e-Islami led 11-party alliance candidate for Bhola-3 constituency said Bangladesh Development Party (BDP) Secretary General Nizamul Haque Naim said if elected he will design the development plan for his constituency with long vision.
Naim said this in a interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) ahead of the parliamentary election on February 12 next.
Professionally a businessman Naim is the Secretary General of Bangladesh Development Party (BDP).
Bhola district correspondent of BSS Al-Amin Shahriar interviewed him. Following are the excerpts from the interview:
BSS: What are your electoral promises to the voters of your constituency?
Naim: Over the past 17 years, there has been virtually no development in Lalmohan–Tazumuddin upazilas. People here were completely deprived of basic rights. The standard of living of the people is extremely low and frustrating.
If elected as a Member of Parliament, my first priority will be to build roads, bridges, and culverts and open a new horizon in the internal communication sector. I also have a set of long-term plans to address unemployment and safeguard people’s fundamental rights, he said.
BSS: What instructions have you given to your leaders and activists regarding compliance with the electoral code of conduct?
Naim: Our party leaders and activists are very cautious about maintaining the electoral code of conduct. I instructed them well in advance to strictly adhere to it.
BSS: What is your stance on the referendum regarding the July Charter?
Naim: Through the sacrifices of many students and the people, we have achieved a new Bangladesh free from autocracy. We have achieved independence afresh. We must protect it. The July Charter is the safeguard of that independence—that is why it emerged. From the very beginning, we have supported a “Yes” vote on the July Charter.
BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming national parliamentary election?
Naim: I expect a free, fair, peaceful, and festive election environment— election without rigging or displaying muscle power. In short, we are hoping to witness an unprecedented level playing field this time.
The Bhola-3 constituency consists of two upazilas- Lalmohan and Tazumuddin. Jamaat-e-Islami has not fielded any party candidate and landed support to Naim.
Meanwhile, Islami Andolon (Hand Fan symbol) has nominated Mosleh Uddin, adviser to the party’s Bhola (South) district committee.
In this election, Nizamul Haque Naim will contest against BNP candidate Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram
Although candidates from other political parties are contesting, political analysts believe the main contest will be held between BNP candidate Hafiz and Jamaat backed Naim.
According to the latest statistics the total number of voters in Bhola-3 is 388,550 including 200,497 males and 188,050 females.
