Jamaat candidate Enayat Ullah to free Dhaka-7 form drug if elected

DHAKA, Feb 07, 2026 (BSS)- Hafez Muhammad Enayat Ullah, candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the Dhaka-7 in the upcoming election has said he will work for eliminating terrorism, extortion and drugs from his constituency as well as reforming the discriminatory business laws.

In an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Enayat Ullah, a businessman contesting with Dardipalla, he will work to eliminate drug from his constituency which is now destroying the social environment of the area and fueling crimes. 
He warned that failure to eradicate drugs would place families, society, and future generations at risk. 

The candidate highlighted that although Dhaka-7 is a business hub, existing regulations- including Income Tax, VAT, Mobile Court, and Safe Food laws—have become discriminatory and a source of harassment for traders.

He vowed to initiate legislative reforms in parliament to ensure a business-friendly environment where judicial transparency is maintained, particularly regarding food safety testing and the acknowledgement of business losses.

Below are the highlights of his interview:

BSS: What are your primary election pledges for the voters of your constituency?

Enayat Ullah: My main priority is tackling the widespread drug problem. This cannot be solved by law enforcement agencies alone; we must take constructive measures to return addicts to normal life. To achieve this, I plan to engage the youth in sports and co-curricular activities by forming separate cricket, football, and badminton teams in every ward. Furthermore, I will work to free the occupied open spaces and playgrounds from illegal grabbers to create recreational centers for the public.

BSS: What instructions have you given your activists regarding the election code of conduct?

Enayat Ullah: Our party has organized training for activists and polling agents on how to conduct the campaign according to the code of conduct. While our team has maintained discipline, we have observed regular violation by our rivals. Despite filing multiple written complaints, the administration has shown a biased attitude by not taking effective action.

BSS: What is your stance on the potential referendum regarding the 'July Charter'?

Enayat Ullah: I am firmly in favour of a 'Yes' vote for the July Charter. We are actively building public awareness because, without the implementation of this charter, justice for past oppression and the aspirations of the students and citizens who shed blood in July will remain unfulfilled.


BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming National Parliamentary Election?

Enayat Ullah: I am highly optimistic. There is immense public enthusiasm for a free and fair election. Since the people successfully ousted a fascist regime on August 5, they are now ready to resist any attempt of vote-rigging or booth-occupying. My stance against terrorism, drugs, and corruption will be uncompromising.

Dhaka-7 is consist of Dhaka South City Corporation wards 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 56, and 57, with a total of 479,377 voters.

Other candidates of the constituency include Hamidur Rahman of BNP, Mohammad Saifuddin Ahmed Milan of Jatiya Party and several others from various political parties and independent backgrounds.
