SUNAMGANJ, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) – Koysor M Ahmed, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for the Sunamganj-3 (Jagannathpur-Shantiganj) constituency, has pledged to work for the comprehensive development of his area if he gets people’s mandate in the 13th national election on February 12.
A businessman-cum-politician Koysor is the immediate past General Secretary of the UK branch of the BNP. In an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), he shared his vision and expectations regarding the upcoming polls.
BSS: What are your election promises for the voters of your area?
Koysor: If I am elected in the parliament election, I will work to improve the quality of roads, education, and healthcare services in the Jagannathpur and Shantiganj areas. I specifically intend to renovate local hospitals and create employment opportunities for the youth.
BSS: What are your instructions to your activists regarding the electoral code of conduct?
Koysor: I respect the electoral code of conduct and try to follow it properly. Since we are contesting this election to establish the rule of law, if we do not follow the rules ourselves, the general public will not follow them either. Therefore, I am motivating my leaders and activists to strictly adhere to the code of conduct.
BSS: What is your position regarding the referendum on the July Charter?
Koysor: The reform of the July Charter is an extremely necessary matter. We want the July Charter to be implemented, as Bangladesh will see the light of progress through it.
BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming national election?
Koysor: I expect that the BNP will achieve an absolute victory across Bangladesh and form the government. This will ensure the continuation of development and the democratic process in the country. My expectation is that the election will be free, fair, and neutral, allowing voters in Jagannathpur and Shantiganj to cast their votes in a peaceful and festive atmosphere.
The Sunamganj-3 seat is known as an expatriates-dominated area. According to the District Election Office, the constituency has a total of 3,72,711 voters, of them 1,51,389 voters are in Jagannathpur Upazila and 1,54,100 in Shantiganj Upazila.
The area is currently buzzing with electioneering as candidates and activists go door-to-door to present their manifestos and seek support. While the BNP maintains a strong presence, candidates from Khelafat and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam are also actively competing for the seat. Among the five constituencies in the district, the festive election atmosphere is reported to be most vibrant in Sunamganj-3.
