CUMILLA, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) – Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Cumilla-6 constituency Kazi Din Mohammad has pledged to establish a safe and justice-based system of governance in Cumilla if elected in the 13th national election.
He made the pledge in an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Cumilla (South) district correspondent Delwar Hossain Akaid.
During the interview, Kazi Din Mohammad answered different questions, highlighting his plans and expectations regarding the forthcoming national election.
“If elected, we want to build a safe, welfare-oriented, and corruption-free Bangladesh in line with the expectations of the people,” he said.
Kazi Din Mohammad, who is contesting the election with the 'Dari Palla' symbol, is the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Cumilla Metropolitan Unit and a member of the party’s central executive council.
Born on February 15 in 1959, he is a businessman by profession.
BSS: What are your election pledges to the voters of your constituency?
Kazi Din Mohammad: Since the beginning of our campaign, we have been trying to understand the needs and expectations of voters.
The people want a beautiful and safe Bangladesh—where businesspeople, students and women can live securely.
With that goal in mind, we want to establish a justice-based system of governance.
We believe that once justice-based governance is established, no one will be treated unfairly. Our aim is to build a welfare-oriented and corruption-free state.
Protecting the people’s trust is our responsibility and that trust will never be betrayed.
To ease long-standing public suffering, necessary initiatives will be taken to improve roads in the metropolitan area as well as in Adarsha Sadar and Sadar South upazilas, address water-logging and reduce traffic congestion.
The recurrent flooding caused by breaches in the embankments of the Gomti (also pronounced as Gomati) River has long been a source of suffering for the people of Cumilla.
To protect riverbank residents, modern, strong and elevated embankments will be constructed. All necessary measures will be taken to protect Cumilla residents from floods.
Creating employment opportunity is currently the biggest challenge. New jobs will be generated by developing tourism sector centering the Gomti River and the Lalmai Hills.
BSS: What instructions have you given to party leaders and activists regarding compliance with the election code of conduct?
Kazi Din Mohammad: We are participating in the election on ideological grounds.
Immediately after the election schedule was announced, I personally removed illegal banners and festoons and instructed party leaders and activists to strictly follow the election code of conduct.
Our party workers will cent percent comply with the code of conduct.
BSS: What is your position on the referendum regarding the July Charter?
Kazi Din Mohammad: During our election campaign, we are requesting voters to cast two votes—one for the 'Dari Palla' symbol and another “Yes” vote in the referendum.
A “Yes” vote will create opportunities to implement necessary reforms in the country. In particular, the provision that no individual can serve as prime minister for more than two consecutive terms will be beneficial for the people.
BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming national parliamentary election?
Kazi Din Mohammad: Our expectation is that the administration will perform its duties with the highest level of neutrality and present the nation with a free, fair, credible, and acceptable election.
I believe such an election will help the country overcome a major crisis.
