In an exclusive interview with the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Dr. Huq, representing the 11-party alliance, shared his visions for the constituency, which comprises Rajapur and Kathalia upazilas.

A young leader, Dr. Huq returned to Bangladesh from Malaysia in 2024 and joined Jamaat-e-Islami in 2025. During the previous Awami League administration, he was a prominent critic of the government while participating in television talk shows from abroad.

BSS: What are your primary electoral promises to the voters of your constituency?

Faizul Huq: My main goal is to ensure people can live in peace and build an extortion-free society. Our Ameer has declared a vision where we will take a certificate from one hand of an educated youth and provide a job in the other. I want to ensure appropriate employment for women and create an environment where they can move freely and safely, day or night.

If elected, I will form a "mini parliament" consisting of local representatives to identify and solve regional problems systematically. Additionally, I am committed to constructing permanent embankments along the rivers in Rajapur and Kathalia.

BSS: What instructions have you given to your activists regarding the electoral code of conduct?

Faizul Huq: I have strictly instructed my leaders, activists, and supporters to follow the guidelines set by the government and the Election Commission. We are not holding any rallies that block roads. Furthermore, we are maintaining environmental consciousness by not using iron nails or pins on trees to hang our banners or placards.

BSS: What is your stance regarding the upcoming referendum on the "July Charter"?

Faizul Huq: I have asked my activists to campaign in favour of the "Yes" vote. Those of us who stand for the country are undoubtedly in favour of the "Yes" vote, and all members of our 10-party alliance share this position.

BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming National Parliamentary Election?
Faizul Huq: The people of this country have not been able to vote for the last 16 years, and young voters have been unable to visit polling centers during that time. I urge the government to create an environment where everyone can participate in the election, inspired by the spirit of 1971 and the July 2024 uprising.

The Jhalokathi-1 seat currently has 228,430 voters, an increase of 17,062 compared to the previous election.

In the upcoming 13th election, 10 candidates are vying for the Jhalokathi-1 seat. Notable contenders include Dr. Faizul Huq (Jamaat-e-Islami/11-party alliance), Rafiqul Islam Jamal (BNP Central Religious Affairs Secretary), Kamruzzaman  Khan (Jatiya Party - Plough symbol) and Md.
