NARAYANGANJ, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) – National Citizen Party (NCP) joint secretary Abdullah Al Amin, candidate of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance for Narayanganj-4 (Sadar) constituency, has pledged to tackle local issues including drugs, crime to free the area from years of lawlessness and terror.
He said environment and healthcare will also get priority.
In an interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Al Amin said the people of the constituency have long suffered under a reign of terror and now seek relief from such problems.
“My goal is to free the citizens from the rule of fear. NCP has already formulated plans to address these challenges,” he said outlining his key intention about his constituency, if elected.
Regarding the election code of conduct, Al Amin said all his party workers are complying strictly as he instructed them to avoid handbills, leaflets, showdowns, loudspeakers, or rallies, while campaigning in favour of the July Charter referendum.
On the July Charter referendum, he said both he and his party support voting ‘yes’, noting that its implementation would honour the sacrifices made by many and bring expected reforms.
“If the July Charter is implemented, there will be reforms. Sacrifices of many are associated with it. If this is not implemented, this sacrifice will go in vain,” he said.
“If the old politics continues, if the quality of politics is not improved, the sacrifices and struggles of the people will have no value. We think the people are also in favor of it,” he added.
Speaking on the upcoming national election, Al Amin expressed hope for a fair and dispute-free poll.
He urged politicians to focus on qualitative political change and positive development rather than violence or backbiting to build a “positive Narayanganj” where citizens’ rights, dignity, and services are respected.
He emphasized that the youth, seeking political reform, are strongly supporting his party.
Narayanganj-4 parliamentary constituency comprises seven unions of Sadar upazila—Fatullah, Kutubpur, Baktabali, Kashipur, Enayetnagar, Gognagar, and Alirtek.
