BOGURA, Jan 30,  2026 (BSS) - Dilruba Nuri, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD) candidate for the Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, has declared that her primary objective is to establish the rights of working people, women, and marginalized communities.

A lawyer by profession, Nuri is contesting the election with the party symbol ‘Ladder’. She expressed her desire to represent the voices of women and marginalized groups in the parliament.

In an interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) district correspondent Kalam Azad, Dilruba Nuri discussed various issues regarding the election. The details of the interview are presented below:

BSS: What are your election promises for your local voters?

Dilruba Nuri: My main promise is to establish the rights of working people, women, and marginalized populations. I want to ensure price control of commodities, housing, education, and health as fundamental rights.

There is a severe crisis of employment. Working people gather in the city, coming to earn a livelihood by pulling rickshaws, while in agriculture-based Bogura, farmers face losses every year due to a lack of fair prices for their produce. We must take part in the struggle to resolve unemployment crisis.

Furthermore, there is a need for liberation from the commercialization of education. Regarding health, Bogura has two government hospitals, but they are insufficient for the number of residents living here. We believe a solution is impossible without government planning.

If elected, we will move toward solutions through socialization, employment generation, and the construction of industries and factories. We will also try to make education free up to the graduate level.

BSS: What are your directives regarding the electoral code of conduct and campaigning?

Dilruba Nuri: BASAD believes in completely peaceful, democratic, and transparent campaigning. Our stance against any black money or influence-peddling politics is clear.

BASAD does not believe in muscle power. We do politics for the workers and farmers. We have organizational instructions to serve the people. We will conduct our election campaign following all rules and regulations.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum regarding the July Charter?

Dilruba Nuri: A referendum will only be meaningful when it is connected to solving the people's real problems. It cannot just be a symbolic political decision; the people's standard of living must change.

To change this standard of living, financial security and employment guarantees are required. The goodwill of politicians is a key. In the past, the parliament had turned into a club. I hope that through the July Charter, an environment will be created for true public representation in parliament.

BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming parliamentary election?

Dilruba Nuri: My expectation is that the election becomes a festival for the common people, not the powerful. We have consistently observed that the parliament has represented only the wealthy classes. We want to change this.

We are participating in the election alongside our struggle on the streets because we want to fight this battle. We desire the upcoming election to be free of muscle power. It is our wish that people can vote spontaneously.

The Bogura-6 constituency consists of Bogura Municipality and 11 Unions. There are 150 permanent voting centers and 835 voting rooms in this seat.

The total number of voters in this seat include Tarique Rahman of BNP (Sheaf of Paddy), Abidur Rahman Sohail of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (Scales), Abdullah Al Waki of JSD (Star), and Abu Noman Md. Mamunur Rashid of Islami Andolan Bangladesh (Hand Fan).
