DHAKA, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - Sadiq Riaz Pinak Chowdhury, BNP candidate for Dinajpur-2 constituency in the forthcoming 13th national parliament election, has promised to carry out development work in a planned way for the welfare of the people of his constituency.

“I will dedicate myself for visible development of my constituency by creating employment opportunities and establishing a corruption-free livable beautiful Biral and Bochaganj upazilas,”   said Pinak Chowdhury in an interview with BSS Dinajpur district correspondent Rostam Ali Mandal.

During the interview he highlighted his development plans for Biral and Bochaganj upazilas.

BSS: What is your election promises for the voters of your area?

Sadiq Riaz Pinak Chowdhury: When it comes to election promises, the issue of safety of the people of the area comes first. I will work actively to build a safe town. At the same time, importance will be given to improving the quality of life of the locals.

If I am elected, I will try my best to start the operation of Biral land port and the closed Setabganj sugar mill.

In addition, we want to create employment by utilizing the potential of setting up a rice mill industry in this region.

We also want to develop the municipal area of ??the upazila as a beautiful town.

BSS: What are your instructions to the leaders and workers to follow the electoral code of conduct?

Sadiq Riaz Pinak Chowdhury: The party leaders and workers have been given necessary instructions to follow the electoral code of conduct. My leaders and workers, including myself, are following the Election Commission's laws properly.

We want to follow the law until the election is over. After the schedule was announced, the election campaign materials were removed from my area.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?

Sadiq Riaz Pinak Chowdhury: Our position is clear: against fascists. Therefore, we are seeking votes for the “Dhaner Shish (paddy sheaf) symbol in the forthcoming national elections, and we will also vote for 'yes' in the referendum.

However, the government's responsibility in the campaign to motivate the people to vote in the referendum is much greater.

We will motivate the voters to vote ‘yes’, in the referendum. We want to conduct the election campaign in this way.

BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming parliamentary elections?

Sadiq Riaz Pinak Chowdhury: BNP candidates participated in the 2008 parliamentary elections held after the 2001 elections. After that, we did not participate in the elections arranged by the Awami League. I have always been accused in cases. I have had to endure imprisonment and torture. But I have stuck to the party and my ideology.

This time the people have regained their freedom to vote. They have got the opportunity to vote for me. I hope that I will win this election with a huge margin.
