PANCHAGARH, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) – Islami Andolan Bangladesh nominated candidate Md Kamrul asan Pradhan has pledged to address long-standing development deprivation in Panchagarh-2, focusing on job creation, improved communication infrastructure, and reforms in the education and healthcare sectors, while also outlining his stance on the proposed July Charter–related referendum.
Md Kamrul Hasan Pradhan outlined his development plans while responding to queries in an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS). The interview was conducted by Md Abu Naim, Panchagarh district correspondent of BSS.
BSS: What are your election pledges for the voters of your constituency?
Kamrul Hasan Pradhan:
The healthcare sector in this area is in a deplorable condition. If elected, my foremost priority will be to improve healthcare services.
There are no advanced medical facilities here, forcing patients to travel to divisional cities even for minor ailments.
In many cases, critical situations develop before patients can reach proper treatment facilities. Ensuring access to quality healthcare at the local level would significantly reduce the suffering of the people in this area.
A large segment of the population in this region is also unemployed. Effective measures will be taken to address unemployment. There is a substantial amount of government-owned land (khas jomi) in Debiganj where an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) was once proposed but never implemented.
If elected, I intend to pursue its implementation, which would create employment opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people. Beyond this, there are comprehensive development plans, including improvements in education and other key sectors.
BSS: What instructions have you given to your leaders and activists regarding compliance with the election code of conduct?
Kamrul Hasan Pradhan:
We are bound to follow the code of conduct set by the office of the Returning Officer, and we have no intention of violating it.
Our leaders and activists have been clearly instructed to adhere strictly to these guidelines. As Islami Andolan Bangladesh is a disciplined organization, we will ensure full compliance with the election code of conduct.
BSS: What is your stance on the July Charter–related referendum?
Kamrul Hasan Pradhan:
We support the implementation of the July Charter. Accordingly, our position is in favor of a “Yes” vote. This stance also reflects the organizational directive issued by the central leadership of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming national parliamentary election?
Kamrul Hasan Pradhan:
I expect the upcoming election would be free, fair, and impartial. At the same time, I hope the people will cast their votes in favor of Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s “Hat Pakha” symbol. We are optimistic about securing victory.
