PANCHAGARH, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Panchagarh-2 Constituency Safiullah Sufi has promised to overcome long-standing development deficits, create employment opportunities, modernize communication networks, and revamp the education and health sectors if elected in the 13th parliament polls.

He also expressed a clear stance on the proposed July referendum.
Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Safiullah Sufi is in a strong position in the electoral field. He was elected chairman of Boda Upazila during the tenure of the Awami League government, giving him an established political base.

This time, he is contesting the parliamentary election and reaching out to voters in his constituency.

Safiullah Sufi expressed his development plans ahead of the upcoming 13th national elections slated for February 12 while responding to queries in an exclusive interview with Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
The interview was conducted by Md Abu Naim, Panchagarh district correspondent of BSS.

BSS: What are your election pledges for the voters of your constituency?
Safiullah Sufi: For the past 54 years, those in power have practiced inequality. I want to ensure that my constituency is free from such discrimination.

We see well-developed educational institutions alongside many that are dilapidated.

My aim is to eliminate this gap. Inequality is also visible in the development of the area, and I want to ensure balanced progress across my constituency. I will prioritize improving roads, educational facilities, healthcare services, and other underdeveloped sectors.

When I was elected Upazila Chairman in 2014, I used my honorarium for public welfare as promised. If elected to parliament, I will similarly invest my honorarium in local development and distribute among mosques, madrasahs and underprivileged residents.

My goal is to work for all people, regardless of political affiliation.

BSS: What instructions have you given your leaders and workers regarding adherence to the election code of conduct?

Safiullah Sufi: Guidance on the code of conduct comes from the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, and we follow his directives.
We are committed to not violating the election code in any way and fully respect the law.

BSS: What is your stance on the proposed July charter referendum?
Safiullah Sufi: The July movement gave us renewed independence and the freedom to speak openly. Naturally, we support the implementation of the July charter. Since the referendum will be held simultaneously alongside the national voting, we want the 'Yes' vote to prevail.

Our leaders and workers have been instructed to campaign for 'Yes,' and we are actively promoting it.

BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming national parliamentary election?

Safiullah Sufi: In the last three elections, we were unable to cast votes. This is not only my concern but also the expectation of people nationwide that a fair and peaceful election should be held in the country where everyone can freely express their opinions.
Insha'Allah, we hope the upcoming election will be held in a free and fair manner.
