RIGA, May 14, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Latvia's Prime Minister Evika Silina told a press conference on Thursday she had resigned over her government's handling of Ukrainian drones that strayed into Latvian territory during attacks in Russia.
The left wing Progressive party withdrew its support for Silina's coalition after she fired party member Andris Spruds on Sunday, saying Latvia's anti-drone systems had not been deployed quickly enough to counter the intrusions on May 7.
