Biden-appointed US ambassador to leave Russia 'soon'

MOSCOW, June 12, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - The US ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy,
who was appointed by ex-president Joe Biden, will end her mission "soon"
after around two years in the country, the US embassy in Moscow said
Thursday.

President Donald Trump has ushered in a rapprochement with Russia, speaking
regularly to Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a sharp break from Biden's
attempts to isolate the Kremlin chief.

Diplomats from the two countries have also held several rounds of
negotiations, including on boosting the work of their respective embassies.

In a post on social media, the US embassy in Moscow said Tracy "will soon
conclude her mission at the US Embassy in the Russian Federation."

It did not say exactly when she would leave, but said it would broadcast
online a farewell ceremony on Friday afternoon.

Trump has not publicly nominated a new ambassador to Moscow or commented on
Tracy's imminent departure.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday it was "unlikely" that
attempts to improve Russia-US ties would bring "quick results".
