ROME, May 29, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and France's President Emmanuel Macron will hold talks in Rome on Tuesday, the Italian leader's office said.
No details on the talks were given but the two have taken opposing positions on several international issues.
The far-right Meloni has sought to act as a bridge between US President Donald Trump and Europe, while Macron has taken a harder line against US tariffs against the European Union.
Before meeting Macron, Meloni will also have talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, one of the few European leaders to have remained close to Russia's President Vladimir Putin since the Ukraine war erupted in 2022.
