KCC launches dengue prevention campaign with colourful rally

KHULNA, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) - As part of the three-month nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Khulna City Corporation (KCC) today organized a colourful rally in the city to raise public awareness about dengue prevention.

KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju inaugurated the rally at Shaheed Hadis Park this morning.The rally started from Shaheed Hadis Park, paraded through major city streets and ended at the same venue.

Speaking on the occasion, Manju said maintaining a clean environment is essential to preventing dengue. He urged people to respond to the Prime Minister's call by keeping their homes and surroundings clean to ensure a healthy environment in the city.

Officials and employees of KCC joined the rally.

Representatives of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), the district administration, BNCC, Fire Service, Scouts, Girl Guides, Red Crescent volunteers, political and civic leaders, teachers, students, journalists and representatives of various voluntary organisations also participated in the rally.

Later, at a press briefing, Manju said the Prime Minister had announced the three-month nationwide campaign in view of the alarming dengue situation and urged people from all walks of life to actively participate in the cleanliness drive.

"Government departments and institutions can make dengue prevention much easier if they keep their respective premises clean," he said.

Highlighting KCC's dengue prevention measures, Manju said three free medical camps were already operating in the city and another three would be established.

Additional manpower was also being deployed in red zones to strengthen mosquito-control and cleanliness activities, he added.

Later, the KCC administrator inaugurated dengue prevention and cleanliness drives at the divisional commissioner's office premises, educational institutions and other locations.
