CHATTOGRAM, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS)- A total of 487 individuals were arrested during a specialized police operation throughout the Chattogram Range in the last 24 hours till this morning.
Among the arrested, 100 were made in anti-narcotics initiatives while the remaining 387 were detained for a variety of other offenses.
DIG Abdul Kuddus Chowdhury of the Chattogram Range confirmed this information on Saturday, indicating that the operation spanned multiple areas of the range from Friday morning to Saturday morning.
During the operation, authorities seized 45,126 pieces of Yaba tablets, 41 liters of illegally distilled liquor, 27.903 kilograms of cannabis, 120 bottles of foreign liquor, and 10 Tapentadol tablets.
DIG Chowdhury highlighted that out of the 100 individuals arrested in the anti-narcotics operation, there were 28 drug dealers, two drug couriers, and 98 drug users.
Besides, mobile courts sentenced 81 individuals to various terms of imprisonment during the anti-narcotics operation, and fines amounting to Taka 9,400 were collected during this time.
A total of 27 narcotics-related cases have been registered in connection with these events.
Meanwhile, the anti-narcotics operation, police also arrested another 387 individuals for different crimes within the same timeframe.
This included 108 individuals in regular cases, 47 related to previous cases, 29 under Section 34 of the Police Act, two under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 60 under Section 151 and other provisions, 122 based on arrest warrants, and 19 based on conviction warrants.
