RANGPUR, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the prime suspect from Gazipur on Friday night in connection with the gang-rape of an expatriate's wife in Thakurgaon and the subsequent blackmailing using a video of the assault. 
 
The arrested individual is Md Al Amin, 30, son of Md Hanif of Hatgaon village under Ranisankail police station of Thakurgaon district, according to a RAB-13 press release issued here today.
 
According to the case statement, the victim was bathing at her father's house in Hatgaon village when another accused, Joni, broke through the bathroom ventilator and entered the room. 
 
When the woman attempted to leave the bathroom, the arrested accused Al Amin, who was waiting outside, grabbed her by the throat and forced her back into the bathroom. 
 
At that time, accused Joni recorded a video of the  woman on his mobile phone and raped her. 
 
Subsequently, accused Al Amin also raped her. 
 
Later, the accused transferred the recorded video elsewhere. 
 
From then on, the accused began blackmailing the woman and pressuring her to engage in sexual relations. 
 
Most recently, on August 2, 2026, another accused, Mahbub Alam, showed the woman the video on his mobile phone and demanded Taka five lakh. 
 
He also threatened her to circulate the video on social media if the demand was not met.
 
On August 20, 2026, the victim filed a case at Ranisankail police station regarding the gang-rape and pornography-related offenses. 
 
On a tip off, a joint team comprising the Sadar Company of RAB-13 from Rangpur and RAB-1 from Gazipur conducted a raid at the Bhaoraid Mour area under Gazipur Sadar police station and arrested the prime suspect Md Al Amin at 9:05 pm on Friday.
 
The elite force has handed over the arrested accused to Ranisonkoil police station for further legal action.
