KISHOREGANJ, Sept 11, 2026 (BSS) - A worker was killed and another injured in a lightning strike while they were collecting coriander leaves in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district this morning.

The deceased was Md Helim, 32, son of Muslim Uddin of Namapara village under Gujadia Union. The injured worker was identified as Khokan Mia, 40.

Locals said Helim and a group of eight workers, including Khokan, went to neighbouring Namapara village around 6 am to collect coriander leaves.

At around 6:45 am, lightning struck the workers while they were working, leaving Helim dead on the spot and Khokan injured.

The injured worker was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Karimganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Soheb Khan confirmed the incident.
