KMP Commissioner asks traffic police to perform duties with vigilance

KHULNA, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Md Sajjadur Rahman today called upon traffic police personnel to discharge their duties with professionalism, courage, vigilance and a strong sense of responsibility.

He made the call while addressing a special award-giving and motorcycle handover ceremony held at the KMP headquarters here this noon, aimed at enhancing professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness of the Traffic Division.

The police commissioner stressed the need to reward good performance and give priority to the opinions and suggestions of field-level police personnel.

“There will be no compromise on drugs,” he said, urging police personnel to remain vigilant against drug-related activities.

He also emphasized strengthening the training and skills of KMP personnel, improving communication facilities and making basic policing activities more effective.

Rahman urged police personnel to maintain patience, courtesy and good behaviour while dealing with members of the public. He advised them not to make decisions in anger, avoid unnecessary confrontations and handle difficult situations with restraint.

He called upon all members of the force to work sincerely and responsibly to ensure people-friendly policing.

Later, 31 traffic police personnel were awarded cash prizes for their commendable performance during the last month. The recipients included one police inspector (city and traffic), five sergeants/traffic sub-inspectors (TSIs), five assistant traffic sub-inspectors (ATSIs) and 20 constables.

The commissioner subsequently handed over four motorcycles to traffic police personnel to make field-level traffic operations more dynamic, effective and people-oriented.

Additional Police Commissioner Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled and Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Shafiqul Islam, among others, were present at the programme.
