CHATTOGRAM, Aug 26, 2026, 2025 (BSS) - The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and demise anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), is being observed in the port city like elsewhere in the country today with deep religious reverence and solemnity.

The Anjuman-E Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust in Chattogram city celebrated the day with a grand 55th historic "Jashane Julus" rally of Sunni Muslims in honour of Eid-e-Miladunnabi. 

The colorful rally, led by Allama Sayed Sabbir Shah from Pakistan, commenced from the city's Sholosohor Alamgir Khankha Sharif at 10 am today and concluded at the Jamia Ahmadia Sunnia Madrasa ground around 1.30 pm after parading the main streets of the city.

Thousands of Muslim devotees from various parts of the country participated in the Jasne Julus, as claimed by the organisers. 

The city was adorned with elaborate decorations and there was a noticeable sense of excitement among the public in connection with the event.

In 1974, Anjuman-E Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust organised the first Julus in Bangladesh from Kaderia Syediya Tayyabia at Baluardighi Khanka in Chattogram, according to Trust Secretary General Mohammad Anwar Hossain. 

Since 1986, the Julus has been led by Syed Mohammad Sabbir Shah, following his father Syed Muhammad Taher Shah and grandfather Syed Mohammad Tayab Shah.

Leaders from Pakistan, Shahzada Syed Mohammad Qasim Shah and Syed Mohammad Akib Ahmad Shah, accompanied Sayed Mohammad Sabbir during the Julus. 

Later, they offered a special prayer seeking divine blessings of the Almighty Allah for peace, progress and prosperity of the country and welfare of the Muslim Ummah following a discussion.
 
Decorated trucks, cars, vans and other vehicles carrying colourful banners, festoons and green flags inscribed with verses of the holy Quran and poetic versions praising the Prophet (PBUH) were used in the rally.

The rally traveled through Muradpur, Nasirabad, GEC Moor, WASA, Lamkhan Bazar and Tigerpass in the city before concluding at the Jamia Ahmadia Sunnia Madrasa ground around 1 pm.

Various road corners and islands were adorned with large arches, colorful festoons, and banners featuring Kalema Tayyeba, verses from the holy Quran, and Hadith. 

National Flags and banners with 'Kalima Teayiba' were also prominently displayed at key traffic zones and light posts in the city. 

The Chattogram Metropolitan Police implemented tight security measures side by side with 10 thousand volunteers of Gaucia Committee to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Eid-e- Miladunnabi.

Several organisations, including the local chapter of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, Darbar-e-Ishapuri in Fatikchhari, Maijbhandari Gousia Haq Committee, Islamic Front Bangladesh Chattogram city unit, Darul Arkam Academy, Baitush Sharaf Complex, and Uttar Kattali Amanat Ullah Shah Para Eid-e-Miladunnabi Udjapon Parishad, organised separate Doa and Zikir Mahfils, discussions to mark the day.

Anjuman-E Rahmania Ahmadia Sunnia Trust Senior Vice President Mohammad Manzur Alam, Secretary General Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Additional Secretary Alhaj Shamsuddin, Finance Secretary Mohammad Qamar Uddin (Sabur), Press and Publication Secretary Mohammad Golam Mohiuddin, Cabinet Member Pair Mohammad, Mahmud Newaz, Mohiuddin Khokon and leaders of the Gausia Committee participated in the procession.
