Dengue cases surge in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) - Dengue cases in Chattogram district are rising rapidly in August, triggering concern among the residents here.

The Civil Surgeon's Office here today disclosed the information.

In the 24 hours, 48 new cases were detected at different government hospitals, according to the Civil Surgeon's Office.

Of them, 15 were detected at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, 18 at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, 12 at the 250-bed General Hospital Chattogram, two at Chattogram Mother and Child Hospital and one at an upazila health complex. 

No new patient was detected at private hospitals and clinics.

"No new dengue death was reported during the period. With the fresh cases, the number of dengue patients in Chattogram this year has risen to 1,612," the sources said.

From January 1 to August 22 this year, 1,344 dengue patients were recorded at government hospitals while 268 were recorded at private hospitals and clinics, taking the total number of cases to 1,612.

So far, 144 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals while 1,366 patients have been released after treatment.

The local health department has urged everyone to remain cautious to prevent the spread of dengue.
