CHATTOGRAM, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS)- In a span of 24 hours, a total of 172 individuals have been apprehended during specialized anti-drug operations across 11 districts within the Chattogram range.

Additionally, 84 individuals have received various prison sentences and have been fined a total of Taka 17,200 through mobile courts. 

Over the course of 24 hours, 165 operations were executed. Chattogram Range DIG Abdul Quddus Chowdhury reported that the operations yielded th seizure of 16,816 Yaba tablets, 32.570 kilograms of marijuana, 101 liters of home-made liquor, 214 bottles of Scoff syrup, 750 milliliters of foreign liquor, and 70 cans of beer across the 11 districts from the morning of August 21.

In total, 57 cases have been registered in connection with this incident.

The 172 apprehended individuals have been presented to the court in these cases. Furthermore, as part of the ongoing anti-drug initiative, mobile courts have sentenced 84 individuals to various terms of imprisonment, and a fine amounting to Taka 17,200 has been collected from them.
