KHULNA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today urged residents to take extra cautions against dengue, fearing the menace to take a toll for two more months in the southwestern city.
“Despite our efforts in past two months, we could not achieve the desired success to combat its outbreak as it spread in more areas of the city,” he told a children’s festival here.
Manju warned against continued spread of the disease for another two months saying the situation required people’s intensified participation in anti-dengue campaign against mosquito breeding.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an award-giving ceremony of children’s drawing competition at Ward No. 27 at Mistripara Bazar under the auspices of Poriborton, an NGO, with support from Khulna-based Environment Protection Forum.
The KCC administrator also urged the children to remain conscious about cleanliness and called upon all to work together to build a better Khulna for future generations.
Environment Protection Forum-Khulna President Advocate Qudrat-e-Khuda presided over the event joined as well by KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Chief Waste Management Officer Md Anisur Rahman, Khulna Press Club General Secretary Tarikul Islam and Professor Dr Md Wasiul Islam of the Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline of Khulna University as special guests.
