KHULNA, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Advocate SM Shafikul Alam Mona today said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman wants to bring the entire country under a master plan to ensure planned development.
"The KDA master plan is not merely a paper document, it is a commitment to ensuring a safe, clean and liveable urban environment for the next generation," he said.
Mona made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with residents of Abhaynagar upazila and Nowapara municipality at the Abhaynagar
Upazila Parishad auditorium.
He urged people to cooperate with the implementation of the KDA master plan, construct buildings in accordance with regulations and contact the KDA
directly for necessary information and services.
He said the master plan envisages preserving water bodies and agricultural land by preventing illegal filling, clearly demarcating industrial and
residential areas to maintain environmental balance, and improving regional roads to ensure congestion-free urbanisation.
"Without direct cooperation and awareness of all, this vision cannot be implemented," he added.
He further said people would not allow "unlimited looting, irregularities and corruption" in the name of mega projects as allegedly happened under the
previous government.
