NARAIL, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - National Fisheries Day was observed in Narail today with various programmes, including a colourful rally, fish fry release, discussion meeting and prize distribution ceremony.
The District Administration and the Fisheries Department jointly organised the programmes at the conference room of Sadar Upazila Parishad.
A discussion meeting was held with Additional District Magistrate Lincon Biswas in the chair.
Narail-2 constituency MP Ataur Rahman Bacchu attended as the chief guest, while Narail District Council Administrator and freedom fighter Mostafizur Rahman Alek, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer T.M. Rahsin Kabir, Additional Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui and Advocate Mahbub Morshed Japal were present as special guests.
District Fisheries Officer Md. Mahbubur Rahman presented the keynote paper highlighting the significance of National Fisheries Day.
Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Sayeduzzaman and officials from various government departments also attended the programme.
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises. It paraded different roads in the town before returning to the starting point.
Later, the Fisheries Department released fish fry into the pond on the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises.
