RAJSHAHI, Aug 15, 2026 (BSS)- A char (river island) that has emerged in the Padma River in Rajshahi is now known on social media as 'Mini Switzerland'.
Just a 10-12 minute boat ride from Satbaria Dogar Ghat in the city, you can see vast green fields, herds of cattle, farmers' cultivation, and the scenic view of the Padma flowing by.

This place, located in Ward No. 8 of Harian Union in Paba Upazila of Rajshahi, is locally known as 'Middle Char'.
However, in the last 10-15 days, after various videos spread on social media, the scene of the char has changed. Every day, visitors from Rajshahi and surrounding areas are rushing there.
According to locals, for the last few days, about 1,000 to 1,200 people have been visiting the char every day. Yet, until a short time ago, there was hardly any presence of outsiders.
Across the vast field of the char - green grass everywhere, herds of cattle roaming in groups in some places, farmers cultivating in others - such scenes of rural nature have become the main attraction for visitors.
In the afternoon, the sunlight on the water of the Padma and the view of the green fields become even more mesmerizing.
Local UP member Shahidul said the green grass of the char and the cattle grazing there are what attract visitors the most. After videos spread on social media, the place became known as 'Mini Switzerland'.
Local youth Rabbil Islam said the beauty of the char is not new. It was similar last year as well. But at that time, outsiders didn't know about it.
After content creators and journalists made videos, its popularity gradually increased.
According to him, the green nature, rural life, and the Padma flowing by - combined, the Middle Char in the afternoon becomes a place of unique beauty.
