RAJSHAHI, Sept 6, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested two people, including a woman, in a drive against online gambling and betting activities in Rajshahi city.
Members of Boalia Police Station under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) arrested them during a raid at a house in the Baliapukur Chhoto Bot-tola area at around 5:45 pm on Sunday.
The arrestees are Md Asif Ahmed, 34, son of Habibur Ahmed of Koyradara village and currently living in Baliapukur Chhoto Bot-tola, and Khushi Akter, 30, daughter of late Emdadul Haque of Magura village under Kishoreganj upazila in Nilphamari and currently residing in the same area.
Police seized two mobile phones allegedly used for online gambling and betting from their possession.
After examining the phones, police found five SIM cards linked to various mobile financial service accounts, including bKash, Nagad and Rocket, along with 13 Gmail accounts and 17 online gambling and betting applications, police said.
A case was filed against the two under the Gambling Prevention Act at Boalia Police Station. They were later sent to jail through a court.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police said such drives would continue to curb online gambling and betting activities in the city.
