NAOGAON, Aug 13, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a passenger bus in Patnitala upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was identified as Shyamal Tigga, 38, son of Birsha Tigga of Raytara village in Akbarpur union of the upazila.

The accident occurred around 11.30 am near the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) camp on the Nazipur-Dhamoirhat regional road.

According to local residents, Shyamal was riding his motorcycle and was entering the regional road from a side road when a speeding passenger bus hit his motorcycle. He was thrown onto the road and sustained critical injuries.

Locals rushed him to Patnitala Upazila Health Complex where the attending physician declared him dead.
Patnitala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Niamul Haque confirmed the matter.

 "Legal proceedings are underway in connection with the incident," he said, adding that the body would be handed over to the family after completion of the necessary legal procedures.
