CUMILLA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized a large quantity of Indian goods worth an estimated Taka 30.063 lakh during separate drives in different areas along the Cumilla-Brahmanbaria border.

Lt Col SM Shariful Islam, commander of Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) disclosed the information to BSS this afternoon.

According to the BGB, acting on specific intelligence, separate operations were conducted on Tuesday in border areas of Akhaura and Kasba upazilas in Brahmanbaria and Brahmanpara and Burichang upazilas in Cumilla under the direction of the battalion commander.

Patrol teams from Kasba, Moinpur, Madla, Khadla, Saldanadi, Shankuchail and Kharera Border Observation Posts (BOPs) took part in the drives.

During the operations, the BGB seized illegally smuggled goods from India, including basmati rice, Red Bull energy drinks, cattle, firecrackers, teak wood, akashmoni wood, sarees, cannabis and a motorcycle.

The estimated market value of the seized goods is Taka 30,06,300, the BGB said.

Lt Col Shariful Islam said the BGB's regular operations and intelligence activities are continuing to strengthen border security, prevent drug trafficking and smuggling, curb trafficking of women and children and stop illegal border crossings.
