Illegal gas connections severed in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, July 20, 2026 (BSS)- A mobile court today disconnected several illegal gas connections during separate drives in Shibpur and Madhabdi upazilas of Narsingdi.

The mobile court was led by Nepal Kanti Deb, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner's Office.

During the operation, the court removed unauthorized domestic and commercial gas connections and disconnected a number of unregistered gas burners. It also filed two cases under the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010 and imposed fines totaling Tk 55,000.

According to the district administration, one case was filed in the area adjacent to Shibpur Model Police Station, where the offender was fined Tk 50,000. Another case was filed in Madhabdi, resulting in a fine of Tk 5,000.

The district administration said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to prevent the illegal use of natural gas, curb system losses and ensure compliance with the law. It added that similar operations would continue regularly across the district.
