RANGPUR, July 19, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested two suspected drug dealers, including a woman, with 2,400 banned Tapentadol tablets in an anti-
drug operation from Taluk Habu area of Gangachara upazila of the district. 
 
The arrestees are Sumon Mia and Luna Akhter of Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat district, Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdus 
Sabur confirmed to BSS on Sunday evening. 
 
"On the instructions of Police Superintendent Mohammad Mozammel Haque, we conducted a drive in Taluk Habu area and seized banned tablets, a motorcycle 
and two mobile phones and arrested them at 11:30 pm on Saturday," he said.
 
Later, a case was filed against the duo at Gangachara Model Police Station. 
 
"We produced the arrested persons to a court in Rangpur, from where they were sent to jail this afternoon," the OC added.
