RAJSHAHI, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - Police recovered 15 kg of cannabis and 2,055 yaba tablets during separate anti-narcotics drives in Rajshahi metropolitan city on Friday.
Police also arrested five people for possessing the drugs during the operations.
The arrestees are: Mosharraf Hossain, 42, from Bhanukar Mirganj area of Bagha upazila, Akbar Ali, 32, from Dingadoba Nimtala Mor area under Rajpara Police Station, Sakib alias Antar, 26, from Dingadoba Mozammel Mor area, Sifat Hossain alias Kausar, 24, from Dashpukur Ali Mor area and Nasir Uddin, 35, from Dashpukur area.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson Gaziur Rahman said that Mosharraf was arrested around 8:45 pm on Friday in a joint operation by Chandrima and Boalia police stations at a flat in the Chandrima residential area.
At that time, 2,055 yaba tablets, Tk 39,000 in cash from drug sales, and two mobile phones were seized from his possession.
Later the same night, around 9 pm, police raided an abandoned house in the Dingadoba Bank Colony area under Rajpara Police Station and arrested Akbar, Sakib, Sifat and Nasir.
Police recovered 15 kg of cannabis from them. In addition, four pairs of scissors used for packaging drugs and four mobile phones were seized.
Mosharraf has one previous criminal case against him. Sakib and Sifat each have one pending narcotics case, and Nasir has two cases pending under the Penal Code and the Gambling Act.
Separate cases have been filed with the concerned police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
