SATKHIRA, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed after being struck by lightning in Shyamnagar upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Hakim, 29, son of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman of Colonipara area in Bhetkhali village under Ramjannagar union of the upazila.

According to local sources, the incident occurred at around 2:00 pm while Hakim was working in his fish enclosure. A sudden storm accompanied by rain swept through the area, and he was struck by lightning.

He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaledur Rahman of Shyamnagar Police Station confirmed the incident.
