LAKSHMIPUR, June 6, 2026 (BSS) - A woman was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a pickup and an auto-rickshaw on the Lakshmipur-Ramganj road in Basubazar area on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased, Shimu Akhter, 35, daughter of Khair Ullah of Hasandi in Sadar upazila, was going to her father’s house in Basubazar form Kalibazar by an auto-rickshaw when the accident occurred. 

Eyewitnesses said that the auto-rickshaw collided with a pickup coming from the opposite direction at high speed, injuring three people, including Shimu Akhter.

The injured were immediately taken to Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared Shimu Akhter dead.

Office-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station (Investigation) Jhalak Hemant confirmed the matter and said that the body has been recovered and kept at the Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
