COMILLA, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - An unidentified youth died today after being run over by a train on the railway tracks in Cumilla. 

The tragic accident occurred in the area between Shimra-Banashua villages of Adarsh Sadar Upazila of Cumilla this morning.

After the incident, a team of railway police from Cumilla Railway Station went to the spot and recovered the body. Later, the body was sent to the morgue of Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Laksam Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jasim Uddin Khandaker confirmed the matter to BSS.

Eyewitnesses said that around 8:30 am, the young man was seen sitting on the railway tracks and smoking. At that time, a train whistled several times, but the young man did not move away. At one point, the train hit him and he died on the spot.

OC Jasim Uddin Khandaker said the incident has been reported to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). Work is underway to identify the deceased.

Further legal action will be taken after confirming the identity by collecting fingerprints.
