RAJSHAHI, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - The National Security Intelligence (NSI) has seized three tonnes of urea fertiliser here while the agri-input was being illegally smuggled from Charghat in Rajshahi to Godagari upazila with the intent of hoarding.

Based on NSI information, the Department of Agriculture and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted a joint drive in the Chandipur area of the city this afternoon and seized the fertiliser.

Bipul Biswas, Assistant Director of the district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, fined businessman Rezaul Karim Tk 40,000.

Arrangements have been made to sell the seized fertiliser to farmers at a fair price through authorised dealers.
