GAZIPUR, April 9, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to send Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Executive Engineer (Electricity) Md Ibrahim Khalil to jail.

The judge passed the order rejecting his bail petition when he appeared before the court today.

Gazipur court Public Prosecutor Md Mostafa Kamal Hossain confirmed this to BSS.

On October 15 last year, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives temporarily suspended Ibrahim Khalil and issued a letter removing him from his job.

According to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) inquiry, Ibrahim Khalil and his wife Monowara Begum amassed huge illegal wealth through corruption during the tenure of the Awami League government. The investigation found evidence of assets worth Tk 1 crore 46 lakh 49 thousand inconsistent with his known sources of income.

The ACC also found suspicious and abnormal transactions amounting to over Tk 8 crore 71 lakh 41 thousand in different bank accounts beyond his salary and allowances.

In this connection, a charge sheet has been submitted against him under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and section 109 of the Penal Code. His wife has also been made an accused in the same case.
