RAJSHAHI, April 7, 2026 (BSS)- In a joint operation by the City Counter
Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and Detective Branch (DB) of
Police in Rajshahi Metropolitan City, a man posing as a fake DGFI officer has
been arrested.
The arrested individual is Shahinur Islam (30), son of Mozzamel Haque, from
Bharatta Shibnagar village under Manda Police Station in Naogaon district.
According to sources, based on confidential information, a joint team of CTTC
and DB police learned that a man was at the pond bank in front of the Chest
Disease Hospital in the Laxmipur area under Rajpara Police Station around 8
pm on April 6.
He was introducing himself as an Assistant Director (AD) of DGFI, behaving
rudely with the public, and exerting influence.
The police team immediately reached the spot and questioned him. He
introduced himself as a DGFI officer and showed an ID card.
However, inconsistencies in his statements raised suspicion, and he
eventually admitted to impersonating a DGFI officer for fraudulent purposes.
He was then detained. During a body search, two ID cards were recovered from
his wallet-one identifying him as "Assistant Director of DGFI" and another as
"Assistant Programmer of DGFI".
Two mobile phones were also seized from his possession.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had been posing as a
DGFI officer for a long time.
A case has been filed against the accused at Rajpara Police Station under the
Pornography Act and the Penal Code. He was produced before the court this
afternoon.
