KHULNA, March 4, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 7,404 residents of Khalishpur 10 No Ward in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) have been registered under the government's 'Family Card Programme,' slightly exceeding the ward's total 7,264 households, according to the database system (DBS).
The Khalishpur 10 No Ward is part of the first phase of the pilot programme, a key government initiative aimed at ensuring social protection at the household level. Survey activities in the ward have been completed under the supervision of the Department of Social Services (DSS).
The government earlier announced that the Family Card Programme would be launched experimentally from March 10 in eight upazilas across the country's eight divisions, with Ward No. 10 of Khalishpur Thana in KCC included in the pilot phase.
Kaniz Mostafa, Deputy Director of DSS in Khulna, said the household survey has concluded, and data entry is underway to prepare for the distribution of Family Cards.
She clarified that the survey only included residents currently living in Ward No. 10, while NID holders not residing there were excluded.
A total of 200 data collectors, supervised by 10 officials, conducted the survey. The 49-point application form collects NID information, details of spouses and children, and a mobile banking number. Data entry is being updated daily and submitted to the Director General, with the goal of completing the process within the scheduled timeframe.
Officials said that under the programme, funds will be transferred directly to beneficiaries' mobile accounts, preferably in their own names.
Beneficiaries will be selected based on the Proxy Means Test (PMT) score: households scoring 0-777 will be categorized as ultra-poor, 778-797 as poor, and 798-814 as vulnerable lower-middle income. Households scoring above 814 will not qualify during the pilot phase.
