38,068 students from ethnic groups received textbooks in Khagrachhari

KHAGRACHHARI, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) – Bangla textbooks, books written in their respective mother tongues were distributed on the first day of the year among 38,068 students from  ethnic groups in their respective languages in the district. 

According to education officials, a total of 38,068 books in Chakma language, 22,535 in Marma language and 26,398 in Tripura language were distributed to different schools. These mother-tongue textbooks were provided to students from classes one to three.

In addition, 20,146 textbooks were distributed among pre-primary school students across the district.

Primary and secondary schools across the district have begun classes for the 2026 academic year with the distribution of new textbooks on the first day of the year.

A total of 457,692 textbooks have been distributed among 706 government and non-government primary schools and 123 secondary and higher secondary schools in the district. Students expressed joy and enthusiasm at receiving their new books as the academic year commenced.

The formal distribution of textbooks took place on Thursday morning at various educational institutions, including Khagrachhari South Khabangparia Government Primary School. 

Sadar Upazila Primary Education Officer Shuvashish Barua, Assistant Primary Education Officer Pranab Chakma, Head Teacher Bijoya Khisa and several guardians were present at the event.

Education authorities said the timely distribution of textbooks will help ensure a smooth start to the academic year and enhance learning outcomes for students in the hill district.
