SUNAMGANJ, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - A discussion meeting was held today to address the repair and implementation of crop protection dams in the district's haors. 

The meeting held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner at 10 am, focused on approving the scheme for the repair and maintenance of submerged dams under the KABITA policy for the financial year 2025-2026.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilias Mia presided over the meeting Key officials, including Executive Engineer-1 of the Water Development Board Mamun Hawlader, Executive Engineer-2 Imdadul Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ayesha Akhter, and Municipal Administrator Matiur Rahman Khan, were present.

Members of the Crop Protection District Monitoring Committee, including Abu Nasar, Advocate Mohsin Reza Manik, Kaniz Sultana, and Salehin Chowdhury Shuvo, also participated in the discussions.

Officials highlighted that out of 95 haors in Sunamganj, a total of 510 dams will be constructed across 53 haors. During the meeting, an upazila-based crop protection dam monitoring committee was formed to oversee the project.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilias Mia emphasized the importance of completing the permanent closure work properly and instructed that reports on the actual situation be submitted. He also warned that action would be taken against anyone failing to perform their duties responsibly.
