SATKHIRA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - The July Martyr Memorial Monument, built to honor those who sacrificed their lives during the July-August 2024 movement, was inaugurated here on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed inaugurated the monument as the chief guest at a function held in the district town this morning.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Monirul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bishnupada Pal, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shahidul Islam Mukul, City Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Maula Mustafizur Rahman and other local dignitaries were present.
The newly unveiled structure stands 18 feet high and 6 feet wide and has been constructed at a cost of Taka 14 lakh. The monument features the names of the martyrs along with emotional slogans chanted by students and the public during the historic 2024 movement.
The project was jointly funded by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Freedom Fighters' Affairs, and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
Following the inauguration, special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs.
