Begum Khaleda Zia is a voice for democracy, justice: Dr Zahid

DINAJPUR, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today called upon all irrespective of party affiliations to work together to ensure the victory of ‘daughter of Dinajpur’ Begum Khaleda Zia in the upcoming general elections.

Dr Zahid made the call while speaking at a view-exchange meeting as chief guest with party leaders, dignitaries and journalists, organized by the Dinajpur District BNP at a community center here.

Presided over by district BNP president Advocate Md Mofazzal Hossain Dulal, the meeting was conducted by Bakhtiar Ahmed Kochi, general secretary of the unit.

Central committee member Syed Jahangir Alam, heroic freedom fighter Mokhshed Ali Monglia, senior vice president of district BNP Md Mokarram Hossain, president of district chamber Abu Bakar Siddique, member secretary of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAD) district unit Prof Dr. Saiful Huda,  its general secretary Md. Ziaur Haque Zia, general secretary of Dinajpur Press Club Golam Nabi Dulal, former chamber president Reza Humayun Faruk Chowdhury Shamim, local Imam Mufti Belar Hossain, District Lawyers’ Forum President Advocate Abdul Halim, Press Club’s former President Chitta Ghosh, cultural personality Ferdous Ara Rahman, President of Diploma Engineers Association Manjur Murshed Suman and general secretary of district bus owners association Shahed Riaz Chowdhury Pim, among others, spoke at the meeting.

Dr. Zahid Hossain said that Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was able to gain the trust of the people because he declared the country’s independence in 1971.

“If we fail to understand the mindset of the new generation, we cannot move forward,” Dr Zahid added.

He said that for the overall development of the country, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians must work together collectively to build the nation.

President Ziaur Rahman initiated the modernization of agriculture, rural electrification and the garments industry and every major reform in Bangladesh was carried out during BNP’s rule, he said. 

Dr Zahid Hossain said all the reforms mentioned in the BNP’s 31-point reform agenda, announced by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, are already reflected in the BNP’s principles.

Dr. Zahid urged all units of the party to bring forward programmes that align with the sentiments of the people. He sought all out support to ensure Begum Khaleda Zia’s victory in the Dinajpur Sadar constituency.

The BNP leader, “Begum Khaleda Zia is the symbol of the people’s trust and hope. So far, she has contested 23 constituencies in elections and won each by a huge margin. This time, too, we seek your confidence.”

Journalists from various print and electronic media, teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, businessmen, dignitaries from various professional bodies and leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated wings were present at the meeting.
