BANDARBAN, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - As part of the Agricultural Incentive and Rehabilitation Program, seeds and chemical fertilizer have been distributed among farmers in Ruma upazila of the district.
The distribution ceremony was held at the Upazila Agricultural Office premises on Monday afternoon.
The program aimed at boosting agricultural production and supporting farmers in the hilly regions, provided seeds and fertilizers to 50 farmers of the upazila.
The seeds and fertilizer were distributed among farmers for cultivating mustard, sunflower, Chinese almond, phelon, and arhar (a type of legume).
For mustard cultivation, each farmer was given 1 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate), and 10 kg of MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilizer.
Farmers cultivating groundnut received 10 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP, while those planting phelon were provided with 7 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP. Similarly, for arhar cultivation, farmers received 2 kg of seeds, 5 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer.
Ruma Upazila Agriculture Officer AKM Faridul Haque emphasized the government's initiatives to increase agricultural production and to rehabilitate farmers.
"The government is providing free seeds and fertilizers nationwide to help boost crop production and support farmers in the hilly areas. This initiative will play a crucial role in enhancing the cultivation of high-potential crops in Ruma," he said.
